The Cutest ‘Pond Frog’ Brownie Bites: Easy & Kid-Approved!
If you’re looking for a fun, kitchen-proof activity to do with your kids, this is it. Last week, I made these "Pond Frog Brownie Bites" with my 5 and 6-year-olds, and to say they were a hit is an understatement. Between measuring, scooping, and placing the little gummy frogs, my two were completely obsessed.
The best part for this tired mama? The bases are just my favorite One-Bowl Fudgy Brownie recipe, and the setup is actually simple. Using a cookie scoop to press the "pond" shape into the warm brownies made this a perfect project for little hands. Get ready to watch them devour the results!

The Pond Frog Brownie Bites

Cook time: 20 mins
Makes: 24 bite-sized ponds
Ingredients
For the Fudgy Brownie Bases:
½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
1 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs, room temperature
1 tsp vanilla extract
½ cup all-purpose flour
⅓ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
¼ tsp salt
¼ tsp baking powder
For the ‘Pond’ Setup:
8 oz cream cheese, softened
½ cup (1 stick) butter, softened
3 cups powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
Blue food coloring (gel works best for vibrant color)
24 Gummy Frogs (we used [Link to Gummy Frogs])
Thin pretzel sticks or circles (optional, for "cattails")
Instructions
Part 1: Bake the Pond Bases
Prep: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 12-cup mini muffin tin (or line two trays). This recipe makes about 24.
One-Bowl Brownies: In a large bowl, whisk the melted butter and sugar together. Whisk in the eggs and vanilla until combined. Sift in the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder. Gently fold the dry ingredients until just combined—don’t overmix!
Scoop: For this part, I let my kids use the cookie scoop. Scoop the batter into the prepared mini muffin tins, filling them about ¾ of the way.
Bake & Create the Pond: Bake for 18–20 minutes, or until the tops are set and shiny.
MOM TIP: This is the magic step! Immediately after taking the brownies out of the oven, press the bottom of a slightly smaller cookie scoop (the one we linked above is perfect!) into the center of each brownie. Hold for 5 seconds to create a distinct, hollow "pond." Let the brownies cool completely in the pan before removing them.
Part 2: Decorate the Ponds (The Fun Part!)
Make the Frosting: In a stand mixer, beat the softened cream cheese and butter until smooth. Slowly add the powdered sugar and vanilla.
Color the Water: Add blue food coloring until you achieve your desired "deep blue" shade.
Pipe: Let your little helpers pipe the frosting directly into the hollow "pond" center you created with your Cookie Scoop. Swirl the frosting in for a water effect.
Place the Frogs: This was my 6-year-old's favorite job! Gently press one gummy frog into the center of the blue water.
Serve: Place them on a platter and enjoy!Pro-Tip for Mamas in a Rush:
If you are running on empty (we’ve all been there!), don't be afraid to use a store-bought brownie mix for the base and a tub of pre-made vanilla frosting for the blue water. Your kids will have just as much fun decorating, and you get some peace of mind. Both methods work perfectly—just don't forget that cookie scoop compression step!

The Mom-Review
As a homeschooling family, our kitchen is the heart of our classroom, and I’m always looking for ways to cut down on the "invisible load" of housework. For a long time, that meant lugging heavy water bottles or waiting forever for a slow pitcher to filter.
Even though we have a filter on our fridge, I noticed we were still reaching for bottled water because the taste just wasn't there. This SimPure system has been a total game-changer for our home. The water tastes noticeably crisp and "better" than our fridge ever produced.
It sits right on the counter (no messy plumbing required!) and gives us pure water instantly. Since my kids are homeschooled, they are home all day, and this system has become a part of their routine. They can easily fill their own water bottles between lessons—which is one less thing for me to do during a busy school day! It’s sleek, it’s fast, and it fits perfectly with my kitchen style.
Why I Love It
Zero Installation: Just plug it in and fill the tank. Perfect if you aren't handy with tools or are currently renting.
The "Taste" Upgrade: It provides a much higher level of filtration than standard fridge filters, so the water actually tastes delicious.
Homeschool Friendly: It’s easy enough for my 5 and 6-year-olds to use independently, promoting autonomy during our school day.
Space-Saving Design: It has a slim profile that doesn't take over the entire countertop, leaving room for books and baking!
Cost-Effective: No more buying plastic water bottles. It’s better for the planet and my grocery budget.
Erica’s Styling Tip:
"I keep ours right next to our 'School Supply' station in the kitchen. It makes it so easy for the kids to stay hydrated while we work through our morning lessons!"
